Money and Media? Not this time!
By H.H.
Of course could the islamic world with their vast resources constitute a great power in the world. It's doubtful if moslems can exercise any power or influence in the western political or cultural establishment, unless these efforts serve the vital colonial interests of the west in general and USA in particular.
As a matter of fact, there is a very infected debate between the jewish lobby and the oil lobby in the US. The jewish lobby advocates political and economic isolation of Iran as the one and only powerhouse of the islamic movements and the oil lobby advocates dialogue with Iran as the greatest geo-political power in west and central Asia, in order to get access to the land locked Caucassian and central asian oil reserves.
Some oil lobbyists accuse the White House for sacrifising vital US economic and strategic interests for Israel sake. The outcome of this power struggle determine the direction of the US foreign policy in the region. So sometimes the zealous hostility toward Iran within US government exceeds their greed for money.
The same is true for western media. For some year ago some Brittish parlamentarians condemned an english newspaper for publishing the speach of ayatollah Khamenei as an commercial advertisement (!) as an criminal and antri-semitic act, which will not be tolerated in future. Said and done.
The task of western media is to sustain the supremacy of the western way of life, political system and culture (as well as religion and race!) and to suppress, censor or bias views being opposite or not fitting.
If Islam is so widely discussed among the western politicians and medias, it's because their fear of Islams's power and their search for ways to gain control over the islamic movements evolving in the Mideast. The major problem of the todays islamic world in general and the arab world in particular is the western backed corrupt layer ruling the arab countries.
The arab leaders especially in the oil rich golf states are so dependent on their colonial masters that they use all their money and power to suppress, and not to increase the welfare of their own people.
The job of most arab leaders is to enrich themselves and their relatives, hand over the petrodollars 'back to' western countries by zillion dollar arm deals and by any mean keep off the people from the political scene. If it was not for to crack down and contain the Intifadeh the western and Israeli leaders would never giveArafat such a support.
Therefore, the islamic opposition against western influence and zionist occupation is accompanied with opposition against the arab puppets who serve alien interests instead of those of their own countries.
Western so called democracy presumes dictatorship and disunity in the arab states. The same logic can be applied to th culture and media policy in US and Europe. What these countries are looking for are some moderate moslems (compare it to moderate arab states!) who have no objection to Israel, Rushdie and US world dominace and can be used as reflectors of colonial ideas among both moslems and westerners.
You can call the Uncle "Yes Sir" Arafat or Uncle Rushdie, if you wish. Of cource, those Die Hard islam fans who don't share the views of the hand-picked representative moslems are to be regarded as fanatics, extremists and presumptive ter-ro-rists.
The main reason behind US and European countries' fear of Islam in general and the iranian revolution in particular is the unity it has created among moslems throughout the world and the power Iran has demonstrated against the western colonialists, the zionists and their arab allies in the Middle East.
What Iran is advocating is unity among moslems, regional co-operation between islamic countries (especially economic and political) and removal of alien powers (especially the american) from the Persian Golf, and last but not least, support to all movements (not only islamic) resisting zionist occupation of Palestine and Lebanon.
The success of Iran's policy and the ability of islamic movements to sustain their struggle determine the reaction of western powers and their media, and not what some so called moderate hand-picked moslem representative express.
