Jewish Holy scriptures speak of occupation of Lebanon and slaughter of its inhabitants

Facts that every Lebanese citizen - Muslim, Christian, Druze - should know!

The actions taken by Israel against the Lebanese people are logical, knowing that the religious doctrines of that state consider Lebanon as part of Greater Israel and that Israel´s soldiers follows the orders of its military rabbis.

Religious fanaticism is instilled in the Jewish soldiers by for instance the Jewish Old Testament´s book of Joshua.

In the beginning of their 1982 invasion of Lebanon the Israeli Army rabbis handed out small maps to the Israeli soldiers, maps that purported to show - by the accompanying texts - that southern Lebanon was biblical, Jewish territory and that the operation thus was the repetition of an operation that Joshua started 3200 years earlier. Everything according to Chapter 11 in Joshua´s Book of the Jewish Old Testament, where in the 14th verse it is stated:

And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

The maps that the soldiers were given by their army rabbis also lacked a geographic border between Lebanon and Israel.

The Jewish scholars Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky, in "Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel", Pluto Press, London, 1999, write on this subject (pages 63-64):

The followers of the two Rabbi Kooks have applied the above concepts to all other Israeli wars. Rabbi Shmaryahu Arieli, for example, explained, according to Tal, that the 1967 war was a "metaphysical transformation" and that the Israeli conquests transferred land from the power of Satan to the divine sphere. This supposedly proved that the "messianic era" had arrived. Tal also quoted the teachings of Rabbi E. Hadaya: "[The conquests of 1967] liberated the land from the other side [a polite name for Satan], from a mystical force that embodies evil, defilement and moral corruption. We [the Jews] are thus entering an era in which absolute sovereignty rules over corporeality." Tal emphasized that these statements constituted a warning that any Israeli withdrawal from conquered areas would have metaphysical consequences that could result in restoring to Satan sovereignty over that land. Other Gush Emunim directly and indirectly expressed the same ideas in their public statements and writings.

There can be little doubt that Gush Emunim has seriously affected Israeli Jewish religious leaders and lay people. During the time of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, for example, the military rabbinate in Israel, clearly influenced by the ideas of the two Rabbi Kooks, exhorted all Israeli soldiers to follow in the footsteps of Joshua and to re-establish his divinely ordained conquest of the land of Israel. This exhortation of conquest included extermination of non-Jewish inhabitants. The military rabbinate published a map of Lebanon in which the names of Lebanese towns had been changed to the names of cities found in the Book of Joshua. Beirut, for example, was changed to Be'erot. The map designated Lebanon as land belonging to the ancient northern tribes of Israel, Asher and Naphtali. As Tal wrote: "Israel's military presence in Lebanon confirmed the validity of the Biblical promise in Deuteronomy 11:24: 'Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours; our border shall be from the wilderness, from the river Euphrates, to the western sea.'" The followers of the two Rabbis Kook viewed Lebanon as being delivered from the power of Satan with its inhabitants being killed in the process."

In his classic "The Case of Israel: A Study of Political Zionism" (Shorouk International), French writer Roger Garaudy also tackles the subject of religious indoctrination in Israel and the massacres it inspires (p. 75):

The Book of Joshua, so often invoked today by the army rabbinate in Israel in order to preach holy war, and also made much of in schoolteaching, dwells upon the sanctified extermination of conquered populations, putting everyone to "the edge of the sword" - "both man and woman, yound and old" (Joshua, vi, 21) - as we read in the story of Jericho and of so many other cities.

The behavior exhibited by Israeli soldiers raised with such ideas is consistent with this attitude. The Zionist education system is at the root of these inhuman teachings.

Research shows that this education and brainwashing has been extremely effective. In a test conducted by Tel Aviv University psychologist George R. Tamarin, a statement describing the Jericho massacre from the Old Testament's Book of Joshua was distributed to fourth- and eighth-grade students in Israel. They were asked: "Suppose the Israeli Army occupies an Arab village in a battle. Do you think it would be proper, or not, to act against the inhabitants as did Joshua with the people of Jericho?" The number who answered "Yes" varied between 66% and 95%, according to the school attended or the kibbutz or town where the children lived (Garaudy, "The Case of Israel", p. 76.).

Garaudy emphasizes that the Book of Joshua and the Old Testament in general are the source of Zionist terror ( pp. 69-70):

This conception of the "promise", together with the means for its realisation (as the leaders of political Zionism derive these from the Book wherein Joshua recounts his feats of extermination of the previous inhabitants, which he carried out at God's command and with his support), plus the themes of "the chosen people" and of "Greater Israel", from the Nile to the Euphrates, constitute the ideological foundation of political Zionism.

Israeli member of the Knesset, Uri Avnery, writes in "A Kosher-Stamp on Murder", September 15, 2004:

Many of the most heinous crimes in human history were committed in the name of religion. The Book of Joshua says that God commanded the Children of Israel to commit a general ethnic cleansing in the land of Canaan.

So the book of Joshua is both an inspiration to occupy Lebanon and to kill its citizens, and its genocidal texts are applied in modern times. But there are more quotes from the Jewish Holy scriptures that connect to Lebanon and which show that it is not by hazard and "security concerns" that Israel over the decades is involved in aggression and war crimes against the Lebanese people.

We here quote extensively from the Jewish Old Testament, Isaiah, Chapter 60, as this chapter clearly reveals the colonial and racist views if the Israeli state religion. Under the revealing heading "The Glory of Zion" it is stated that "the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined" ("utterly wasted", "utterly destroyed" in some translations) and that "the glory of Lebanon will come to you":

10 Foreigners will rebuild your walls,
and their kings will serve you.
Though in anger I struck you,
in favor I will show you compassion.
11 Your gates will always stand open,
they will never be shut, day or night,
so that men may bring you the wealth of the nations—
their kings led in triumphal procession.

12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish;
it will be utterly ruined.

13 "The glory of Lebanon will come to you,
the pine, the fir and the cypress together,
to adorn the place of my sanctuary;
and I will glorify the place of my feet.

14 The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you;
all who despise you will bow down at your feet
and will call you the City of the LORD,
Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

In several other instances the Jewish Old Testament also claims the land of Lebanon as part of the territory of Israel (Deuteronomy 1:7, 3:25, 11:24; Joshua 1:4, 11:17, 13:6; 1 Kings 9:19 par; Chronicles 8:6; Zechariah 10:10).

Deuteronomy 1:7
Leave here and go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the surrounding regions, the land of the Canaanites in the Arabah, the mountains, the foothills, the Negeb and the seacoast; to Lebanon, and as far as the Great River [the Euphrates].

Deuteronomy 3:25
Ah, let me cross over and see this good land beyond the Jordan, this fine hill country, and the Lebanon!

Deuteronomy 11:24
Every place where you set foot shall be yours: from the desert and from Lebanon, from the Euphrates River to the Western Sea, shall be your territory.

Joshua 1:4
Your domain is to be all the land of the Hittites, from the desert and from Lebanon east to the great river Euphrates and west to the Great Sea.

Joshua 9:1-2
When the news reached the kings west of the Jordan, in the mountain regions and in the foothills, and all along the coast of the Great Sea as far as Lebanon: Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, they all formed an alliance to launch a common attack against Joshua and Israel.

Joshua 11:16-17
So Joshua captured all this land: the mountain regions, the entire Negeb, all the land of Goshen, the foothills, the Arabah, as well as the mountain regions and foothills of Israel, from Mount Halak that rises toward Seir as far as Baal-gad in the Lebanon valley at the foot of Mount Hermon. All their kings he captured and put to death.

Joshua 12:7
This is a list of the kings whom Joshua and the Israelites conquered west of the Jordan and whose land, from Baal-gad in the Lebanon valley to Mount Halak which rises toward Seir, Joshua apportioned to the tribes of Israel.

Joshua 13:1.2a.5
When Joshua was old and advanced in years, the Lord said to him: "Though now you are old and advanced in years, a very large part of the land still remains to be conquered. This additional land includes . . . and the Gebalite territory; and all the Lebanon on the east, from Baal-gad at the foot of Mount Hermon to Labo in the land of Hamath.

Joshua 13:6
At the advance of the Israelites I will drive out all the Sidonian inhabitants of the mountain regions between Lebanon and Misrephoth-maim; at least include these areas in the division of the Israelite heritage, just as I have commanded you.

Solomon then rebuilt Gezer, . . . all his cities for supplies, cities for chariots and for horses, and whatever else Solomon decided should be built in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in the entire land under his dominion.

This aspect of the Israeli-Lebanese conflict is suppressed not only in the mainstream medias in the West but also in the Middle East - among the very people who live under the direct consequenses of its applications - although it is a known fact in Israel.

We urge people to spread the knowledge of this vital background to the present conflict in order to prevent further bloodshed. The Zionist warmongers have to be disarmed before they can cause more harm.
