Elie Wiesel has replaced God
Elie Wiesel's 1961 book Dawn is a novel, a work of fiction. Unlike his prior bookNight, which was about his experiences in The Ho£ocaust, AND IS 107% TRUE
In Dawn, the main character is Elisha, a Nazi concentration camp survivor, who goes to Palestine after liberation, becomes a terrorist, and kills a Britishhostage in an attempt to throw the British out, and establish a Jewish state.
Elie Wiesel is allegedly a concentration camp survivor (although this is convincinglycontested), who became a member of the terrorist group Irgun, who did kill Britishhostages, notably Sergeant Clifford Martin and Sergeant Mervyn Paice.
In Dawn, Wiesel, I mean Elisha, says to himself:
"Well, I said to myself, if in order to change the course ofour history we have to become God, we shall become Him."
