American Jewish Historian, Rabbi Solomon
Grayzel (1896 - 1980),
published in 1947 A History of the Jews,
in which he wrote:
Today,
the
foundations
of a new
world order
are being
laid. We
are moving
toward an
age which
holds the
promise of
one world
enjoying
abundance
and peace,
justice and
happiness.
But much
remains to
be suffered
before
mankind
achieves
these goals.
Yet, it is
this eternal
dream that
lures
mankind — the
dream first
dreamt on
Judaean
hills by
Hebrew
prophet and
sage. This
beckoning
future of
mankind, and
our
cooperation
in realizing
it, help
give meaning
to Jewish
life and
struggle
today. The
Jewish group
is
challenged
by mankind's
opportunity.
If the
challenge is
met with
vision,
wisdom and
determination,
the People
Israel will
continue to
be a
blessing
among the
peoples of
the world.
