Heavy Metal vs. Holocaust Denial
This is the U.S. metal band Disturbed, the bald guy is David Draiman, who's Jewish, and whose father, Yehuda Draiman, is running for Mayor of Los Angeles in the 2013 election. In 2010, Disturbed released their album Asylum, which featured the song "Never Again". Draiman explained that it's "about the Holocaust and the people who deny it, like Ahmadinejad. And part of our live show includes a video presentation depicting him as the new Hitler."Below are the lyrics to the song, and the only part I'll comment on, is the line: "For the countless souls who died, their voices fill this night", I was under the impression that the count was "six million," I thought everyone knew that.
Never againNever again
They have a frightening desire for genocideThey wouldn't stop 'til what was left of my family diedHell bent on taking over the worldYou couldn't hide in the shout of conformity
We can't forget how we were devastated by the beastAnd now we pleaded with the captors for releaseWe were hunted for no reason at allOne of the darkest times in our history
All that I have left inside is a soul that's filled with prideI tell you never again, ohIn a brave society, didn't end up killing meScream with me, never again, not again, no
A generation that was persecuted endlesslyExterminated by the Nazi war machineWe will remember, let the story be toldTo realize how we lost our humanity
You dare to tell me that there never was a HolocaustYou think that history will leave the memory lostAnother Hitler using fear to controlYou're gonna fail this time for the world to see
All that I have left inside is a soul that's filled with prideI tell you never again, ohIn a brave society, didn't end up killing meScream with me, never again, not again, no
All that I have left inside is a soul that's filled with prideI tell you never again, ohIn a brave society, didn't end up killing meScream with me, never again, oh
For the countless souls who died, their voices fill this nightSing with me, never again, ohThey aren't lost, you see, the truth will live in meBelieve me, never again
